The Best Conferences of 2024

The Best Nomad Events of 2024 and Which Ones You Shouldn’t Miss in 2025!

2024 saw a record number of nomad events, from nomad fests to conferences and retreats, the never-ending stream of new events was an interesting feature of the year that is not coming to an end.

I attended several events and asked 10 other nomad leaders which events they loved this year and will not miss in 2025.

This list is a mix of my personal experience and the people I trust in the community, not an extensive list but a quality one.

What makes a good nomad event?

  • Location

  • Content

  • Organization and logistics

  • Innovation and uniqueness

  • Community engagement and local integration

  • Value for the money

With that in mind, let’s check the list.

  1. The Nomad World Albufeira

The 2nd physical edition of the Nomad World was one to be remembered for the times to come.

A beach stage with a giant monitor where some of the best speakers in the community were present. Some stars like Hannah Dixon, Juan Barbed, Daniel Duma, Sergio Sala, Ken Weary, Rebecca Males, Safir Jamal, and many others shared their knowledge with over 250 attendees.

Part of the experience was also The Nomad World Awards, the first-ever award ceremony where The Nomad World attributed 14 awards to leaders in the community, awards to destinations, community leaders, new projects, and to the ones spreading change and love throughout the world.

Some unique experiences were included in the ticket like the welcome cocktail with live music, Wine & Salsa, Local Arts and Crafts workshop, Acro Yoga and so much more.

What’s next?
The Nomad World is happening in Rio de Janeiro in March 2025, you can buy your tickets here.

2. Nomad Island Fest Madeira

The quality of this event is unparalleled in the nomad space.

Michelle Maree brought together one week of top speakers and activities that led the attendees through a journey of self-discovery, business formation, business growth, and deep connections.

The speakers included global stars like the legendary Ken Honda, Dariush Soudi, Hannah Dixon, Alessio Pieroni, Niraj Naik, Simone Vicenzi, Ben Guez, Gonçalo Hall, Shaft Uddin and so many others.

In terms of content and experience Nomad Island Fest was the winner of the year.

The stages located in the magic Ponta do Sol village in Madeira made it an even better experience, when breaks in the pool or the ocean, deep conversations in the sauna and business deals happening in jeep tours around the island.

While all this comes with a high price tag the reality is that all attendees thought it was worth it.

What’s next?
The next Nomad Island Fest will happen from the 4th to the 10th of December in Ponta do Sol, Madeira. You can get your tickets here.

3. Colive Fukuoka

I had the pleasure to fly to Japan to speak and attend Colive Fukuoka, an initiative led by Akina and Rio that blew my mind in terms of experience and local integration of the event.

Besides incredible speakers from all over the world, what was special was to have several regions of Japan represented, all of them willing to attract digital nomads and remote workers.

Besides the main event, there was a popup coliving experience that lasted the whole month with coworking days, daily events, weekend adventures, and trips to different parts of Japan.

The community leaders are rockstars and some of the best in the world, the legendary Haren Tambi made every day a day worth living during this experience and the participants were all incredible.

After the conference several regions and cities organized workcations of 1-2 weeks, helping the nomads to explore new regions of Japan and have an even better integrated experience.

I fell in love with Japan, with Fukuoka, and I know many other participants did too. I can’t wait to go back.

What’s next?
Colive Fukuoka will happen again next year but the tickets are not yet available. You can pre-register here.

4. Bansko Nomad Fest

The Summer Camp for digital nomads happened again this year with around 700 attendees and new ownership.

The event ran seamlessly, with the quality expected from the oldest event running in the space.

Content-wise it’s very holistic, it goes from business to mindfulness and several side quests that make it the most diverse in the space.

The garden is where the action happens in the afternoons, with unconferences, side events, sports, and many good conversations.

BNF is a lot about the people who attend, they make the event different and special. It’s the only event gathering more than 500 nomads so diversity is to be expected as meeting many very interesting people.

What’s next?
BNF will happen from the 22nd to the 29th of June and you can get your tickets here.

5. Tirana Nomad Fest

While it was launched and postponed sometimes, what I liked about this event was the venue, the local integration, and the content, half local half global.

Tirana Nomad Fest is fully sponsored by the city hall, making it the only free event on the list, but that doesn’t mean that the content is bad, the opposite is true.

Good curation by Domenico makes sure that the event is great, with local integration, local politicians present, and a lot of very interesting conversations about the future of Tirana, Albani, and the whole region.

Loved to see the local authorities joining the conversation and being an active voice in the conference.

Tirana is a growing nomad hotspot and Albania has a unique opportunity to be a European star in the movement, can’t wait to see what they will build in 2025.

What’s next?
TNF is not yet confirmed for 2025 but you can follow the news here.

Let’s talk about 2025!

We saw a proliferation of low-quality events in 2024, many will disappear in 2025, and new ones will appear. There seems to be a big misunderstanding that events can by themselves help promote a region for nomads, but that’s not exactly true for the long term.

Events are a megaphone for a community already existing with events the whole year round and a local nomad community.

All the mentioned events have that in common, they are part of a strategy to keep building and promoting the local community, not to create it.

In 2025 I want to attend new events, with a new vision and better locally integrated.

Here’s my list of events that were launched and others you should check:

We will be posting on our social and newsletter the best events as they are launched.

See you next year at events all around the globe!
